TINNITUS SUPPORT The Tinnitus Support Message Board (TSMB) is a moderated board for tinnitus sufferers. With over 1 million hits per year it is the largest Support Board providing information, support and friendship for people all over the world. Research Project Title: The impact of social support on quality of life of Tinnitus sufferers. You must be 18 years of age or older to participate in this study and your participation is entirely voluntary. If you choose to participate, you will be asked to complete a series of questionnaires to assess the severity of your Tinnitus, the extent of social support you receive and certain aspects of your quality of life. The questionnaires should be completed in 20 minutes or less. You can choose not to participate in this study or to withdraw at any time without consequences, question or penalty. Ron Wilmshurst 8297 0897 ronw@senet.com.au NEUROMONICS The Acoustic Desensitisation Protocol, provided by Neuromonics, is a tinnitus therapy program which combines music and 'shower' sound (modified to accommodate to mild or moderate hearing loss) and counselling. The therapy is based upon the same principles as Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT), that is, the neurophysiological model of tinnitus generation and perception (see Fact Sheet 13). There are now three independent audiologists offering the Neuromonics Protocol in Adelaide. They are David May and Dr Judith Boswell at Adelaide Hearing Consultants (Adelaide City, ph 8410 2900; Glenelg East , ph 8376 0999) and Adrian Galindo at Allears Hearing and Tinnitus Clinic (North Adelaide, 8410 8888).
